When San Diego’s Best Windows replaces your windows we give the option to leave the old windows or take them unless the home was built before 1978. It’s most likely that the old windows have some lead-base paint. This can be dangerous, the debris containing paint is disposed to hazardous waste at the closest waste facility. For more information how to protect your family from lead poisoning please visit www.epa.gov
If you don’t want your old windows, they contain no lead paint, and are in decent shape. We donate the windows, and door to a Reuse Center.
Many have sprung around San Diego, CA and are given a second chance before they are dumped to a landfill. If you would like to make a donation, you can call ahead and find out if your closest BMRC accepts windows.
One of our favorite charities is Habitat for Humanity, they accept all types of building materials. We have donated many windows and doors, new and used. If you would like to do personally donate your old windows for a tax write off. Make sure to call ahead.
Of course every install is different, glass might be removed and the window panes will be left.
if you are ready to get started on your replacement window projects, give us a call or fill out the contact form.
